Welcome to David Thompson Racing! We are a Racing Yard in the sleepy village of Bolam in County Durham, just 5 minutes away from Darlington and Bishop Auckland. We are a small yard with a dedicated team. With us being a small yard you will find racehorse ownership is much more personable. Each horse becomes part of our family and is only given the best of care. Every member of our staff are always happpy to help with any questions or queries you may have.

ABOUT US
David Thompson has been a successful trainer for the past ten years. Prior to taking out his own dual purpose licence he was a jockey, and then assistant trainer to Denys Smith (trained Red Alligator to win the Grand National). He has over 25 years experience in the racing industry.
Based in the sleepy quaint village of Bolam, Co. Durham, David manages the day to day operations of his yard South View Racing stables. Given his vast experience of horses he regularly rides out. This enables David to get his own feel for a horse along side the views of his knowledgeable team.
Gary
Gary has been with us since time began and involved with racing even longer! He had 24 years in racing before coming to us and been here from the start. He still remembers the first race the yard ever had just like it was yesterday.
Katie
After working at a couple of other yards previously, Katie started for us some 3 years ago to become a valuable member of our team. She has a particular love for one of our owners horses Bowdlers Magic.
Mary
Mary has now been with us for 13 years. Much like the other members of our team she has been involved in racing most of her life, kicking off her career as a YTS with the legendary Denys Smith!
Lorna
Lorna is the Step Daughter of David and been involved in racing and the yard for pretty much all her life and been riding out since the age of 13.
